Bringing Reliable Cleaning Services with a SparkleMafia Touch
SparkleMafia Professional Cleaning was started on the weekends in November of 2011 by Arlene Hubbard and officially became her full-time licensed business in April of 2012. Arlene grew up on the Kitsap Peninsula in the Poulsbo/Silverdale area. Her dad worked at the shipyard and mom worked at the hospital. Both of them instilled in her the importance of honesty and integrity and a dedication to both hard work and the pursuit of excellence in all she does.
Early on, Arlene worked for a local non-profit that helps to take care of orphaned and destitute children living in Africa and the Caribbean. She helped with marketing and lead teams of interns overseas to assist in the mission’s efforts to build children’s home, schools, churches and medical clinics. To this day Arlene has a great love for the people of Sierra Leone, West Africa where many relationships where formed with children who’s lives have been changed by the work of Children of the Nations. Later she went back to school and gained her Masters in business and administration with a focus on entrepreneurship and started SparkleMafia LLC. This both helped put her through school as well as gain the practical skills of running a business in hope to not only serve others through cleaning, which she love to do, but also help those who have the same dream of owning their own business gain the confidence and knowledge needed to be successful.
We are often asked “Why ‘Mafia’? Sparkle makes sense… where did the name come from?” In her 20’s Arlene and some friends formed ‘SparkleMafia’ as a “club” of girls that played practical jokes on other friends. It was a way that we brought a little fun and joy to life, letting people know we cared about them by leaving them a crazy mad-lib message on their windshield along with some honey and glitter on their windows. We had a strict code of conduct, nothing was to be done that would cause damage, nor should it be mean… just silly and a little mischievous. The element of surprise and doing random acts of “kindness” made it tons of fun and soon more friend wanted to join our club. Years later when considering what to name her business, Arlene wanted to bring in that sense of fun and surprise to cleaning… finding ways to add that little extra sparkle to someone’s day.
Though we have traded in the mad-libs for friendly notes and text, and the honey and gutter for sparkle and shine, our team still does our best to find ways to bring a smile to our client’s faces. Plus it’s been fun to be a little creative and playful with our SparkleMafia marketing tag-lines …and have a little laugh with you as we take the work out of housework!
